Very nice research. My SEL has the other rims though.. Not sure if it's a different offset, but my rims are the eight spoke. Maybe thats why the car will take a range of offsets?? Not sure, just spitballing ideas. But eRic obviously has proof, so I'd play it safe and go with a +45mm offset.

It's come my attention that this term is not a common one and I'll bet the majority of fringe car enthusiast do not know what it means.
As a benefit to those people and to those that just want to know I present the following. From the website HondaHunting: Wheel Offset: Why it Matters - Guide To Proper Honda Wheel Offset - Honda Tuning Magazine I found this to be perhaps the best explanation. Here is an excerpt. "Offset: What the heck is it? All of this brings us to wheel offset, which is simply the distance between the wheel's hub-mounting surface and its center plane."

45 is the stock offset. Back spacing is 5 3/8".
Back spacing is much easier to do and can be done by anyone with a straight edge and a ruler . Some wheel sites give both, offset and back space. In general, the wider the wheel, the less offset. Last edited by Iceracer; 01-11-2012 at 10:48 AM. |
