Default Experience with LRRs?

I'm thinking of picking up a fairly lightweight set of aftermarket wheels and would like to mount some 205/50-16 LRR tires on them.

What's been your experience with LRRs? Any significant MPG gains? Any downside like maybe less grip or rougher ride, etc?

Internal friction is one of the primary areas for improvements, which can lead to improved gas mileage without much trade-off, but the tread compound can also be changed for less rolling resistance which could involve a trade-off in grip under braking and cornering. Is it worth the difference? That depends on how you balance fuel economy vs. performance and/or safety.

Good to know. I plan on driving with the LRRs from maybe April thru November with no plans of autocrossing this car (I do that with my Miata). So I would think for everyday driving they should be fine.

Yeah, I was looking at the Bridgestone Ecopias.

Trevor, do you have any data on which brand LRRs save the most fuel?

There is a ton of info over on priuschat.

Won't be apples to apples due to CD and all that but if something does well on a Prius it will do good on a Fiesta.

Generally the fuelmaxes are considered the best, but also the priciest.

Lot's of variable come into play, but the goodyear was the most fuel efficient in our testing.
