Something seems wrong in that video. Why is there 2 crossbeams inside the car? You can see them through the rear window. Why would they install a rollcage or whatever that is in a production car?
Maybe this is a stupid question and all makers do this to their prototype cars. But wouldn't a rollcage mean that car is more for racing then production? Or are they really that concerned about the test driver safety? What's going on in this video? Is this really a Fiesta ST? If they bring the ST to North America by 2012/2013 I will probably be buying one also. bneale |

lots of cars that are the more sporty version have roll cages. The new ford boss 302 has the options for a rear seat cage. many euro factory tuner cars also have them. Maybe it was simply for the track. I would like to think that it would be a option.

I reckon this is the next production car from ford theres way to many videos and pictures around the web for it not to be.And i reckon it is the ST and that mask on the front is to hide the intercooler on the front until it goes to production and has a new face on it.
The roll cage will defo be a safety thing, work place health and safety.

it's a test car so they probably put a rollcage it in for safety reasons if they're testing it on road racing courses. living in Detroit, I see m-plate cars with rollcages in them on occasion. It's not going to be in production street car.

Agreed. ST isn't important to me, and for the price point of the Fiesta in the US I'm uncertain of the real prospects of Ford bringing it here.

Exactly what brought me to the Fiesta, particularly my trim level. For what loaded SES/SELs or the potential ST sell for, I'd rather have a Sentra SE-R Spec V.

IF Ford brings the ST here, its gonna be the black, NA-spec, 5-door that appears briefly in that video. They're not gonna build us a 3-door for a car that may only sell a couple thousand units annually. As for price, if you start with a SES with 301A plus leather, you're just under $20 grand. Add FRPP suspension kit and upgraded wheels and tires for a thousand. Turbo, intercooler and 6-speed tranny probably add another grand. Ford should be able to put that out here for around $22,000.
