So I was reading an article about the Fiat 500 Abarth (call me a sucker for quick small cars), and Motortrend was predicting fuel economy not much worse than the manual which got me thinking about the ST. So what's your best guess for the ST's EPA numbers?
Yes we're talking about hypothetical numbers for a car that hasn't been confirmed for production but I thought it might be a fun discussion. Also I don't know about the rest of you but MPG will probably determine if I jump ship for the ST some day (it has to beat my current "fun per gallon" rating ).

The biggest factor, much like with our fiestas right now, is the driver. I know I can get mid 30s driving around town and about 40 on the highway if I stay at 65-70. However when I'm running around and revving it up to 5k RPM my mpg drops to 30 and bellow. That is where I see the STs MPG because well, why else would you buy a Fiesta ST?

I am not buying a Fiesta ST with the 1.6L ecoboost engine for fuel economy improvement. It will be worse than my current Fiesta for sure when I am driving it. One thing that interests me is how much the engine will "reward" you for using premium fuel in it instead of regular. What you need is a 1.0L 3-cyl Fiesta for the best fuel economy (:

I'd be willing to bet that with restraint(me neither), the ST will at least match the regular fiesta... Six speed stick will help, though first to fifth will likely be close ratio. It would be hard with a Cooper S beside you at the lights...

The eSourcebooks preview for the 2013 Escape came out end of last week. They show the 1.6 Ecoboost getting 25 City/33 Highway in a vehicle that probably weighs a minimum of 700 lbs more than a Fiesta and has way worse aerodynamics.

Exactly! Im guessing the Fiesta ST is a 35MPG highway allllll day long

I could care less what MPG the ST will get, MPG is not the point of the ST. The car is evil, it is awesome, it is a middle finger to the image of a slow small car. ST owners don't brag about hypermiling, they brag about lap times, lateral g's, acceleration, out braking an exotic on the track, scaring the crap out of a passenger on a long sweeper. The ST, like other SVT products, is designed to use fuel as a method to induce a smile on the face of its occupents. Gas is the price of admission to a roller coaster.
