Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone had a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. I sure did. I've been away from this site for a while now quietly working up the cash I need for a new car and I wondered, what the heck happened with the Fiesta ST? It wasn't long ago that we saw the 4 door hatch concept released in all its glory. So what's next? Has anyone actually found any more information about this car? Does anyone know if it will actually be released in North America this year? The reason why I ask is obviously because I can see my goal in reach. I'm only $4,000 shy of the goal I had original set for myself before I buy a new car. Meaning that come spring time of this year, I'm ready to purchase a Fiesta or Fiesta ST if it comes to market. But then along came this little beast of a car and Scion has confirmed the car coming to market for May of 2012. ![]() I have a friend who is a Scion owner and he recieved a news letter about this car. He claims the car is going to come to market starting at $20,000 which is perfect for my price range. The Subaru BRZ counter part is also coming to market starting at $24,000 but includes push button start and Sat Nav which I believe the Scion does not. So thats where I am. I love the Scion and I love the Ford. I would really like the Fiesta ST though considering the Scion is way more car then what a stock Fiesta. So what is the deal with the Fiesta ST? If I missed a post or something, please point me in the right direction. bneale

It won't come(if at all) until the model year after the Focus ST. Which should be out by mid to late summer.
The FRS and BRZ are looking to be pretty cool! But I'd wait for the turbo version of the Subie myself, at least then it'll have the power to match it's looks!

It's not scheduled to be released until 2013. I don't know if that is production year 2013 (as in we'll see it this summer) or calendar year 2013. There isn't much information yet.

I'd love to own the turbo version as well. But the stock DS4 2.0L Boxer engine isn't exactly down on power. It makes 200HP in a car only 2622lbs. Whats the stock weight on a Fiesta again? Also, the Scion/Subraru/Toyota has its engine mounted so far back that its technically classed as "mid-ship" just like the Lexus LFA. When it comes to power, compare this thing to a Gen 3 Miata. It's more of a fair comparison in my opinion. The other thing is the price of the Turbo. My price range is maxed at 20K unless my used Audi is worth more then 5K, I only have 20K cash and I'm trying to avoid taking a seriously large loan unless I have too. So 25K or so is out of the question. I'll be happy with a 6spd and LSD. I don't even need a leather interior. bneale

I really wanted to cross shop the Fiesta ST, but I guess thats not going to happen. I might still end up in a Fiesta though if I can't get a Scion for 20K. I'm worried the dealership might tack on a huge markup because of demand like someone did with the BMW 1 M in LA. (If you haven't heard, they added on 40K to the sticker price making it something like $91,000 for a 1 series) bneale

It's not your fault. I'm sleepy because I got up at 5am for work this morning. I got confused and wanted to clarify. EDIT: On a side note. It's good to see the same old people still posting on here. I've been away for a while and its nice to see you guys again. bneale

Hah! Welcome back! And the fiesta weighs 2500 pounds +/-. I'm absolutely sure that the msrp on either the Scion or the Subie won't be less than 25k in Canada! As usual, it costs extra to be a Canuck!
![]() I was pricing Mazdaspeeds and WRXs before I went with the Ford, and neither could be had for less than 32k! So expect 25 to 28 for the miata killer!

I expect the ST concept to be shown at Detroit and Chicago auto shows, with a possible production release at the NY auto shows. For some reason, SVT (or the performance group) usually waits for smaller shows to debut their production stuff. If it goes into production, my speculation is that it will be a 2013 model and be released late spring or early summer 2012. If the ST makes a production debut at the NAIAS, then I would guess late spring or early summer for sure. If it is debuted at a late Q1/early Q2 show, then late summer/fall 2012 as a 2013 model. Chances are pretty good it will see a production debut very soon. Sadly for me, I need to wear out my current Fiesta before getting another new car and my wife is set for the next new ride, so the ST will be out of production in a few years when I am due. History would suggest a 3 year run for the Focus and Fiesta ST program, and then shelved for a decade. However, this could be different since Capito is now in charge of performance cars and Ford is a vastly different car company than they were when the SVT Contour, Lightning, and Focus were in production. If we are lucky, the ST will continue in production to offer us enthusiasts a performance hatchback with an oval.

I won't pay the 25K if thats what it comes down too. I will hold the dealer to the US pricing unless they can explain to me why the price is so much greater. If I have too, I'll go the US with cash in hand and drive the car home! bneale
