Default Quick "how come?" question ...

Two sedans (see sig).

Phantom has standard CD/radio with the 6-button controls

Cherri has that plus Sync so the button controls are phone dialer.

Issue: Display of radio text ... Phantom will display any available text in the lower left of the message center with no problem. Cherri is different ... in that one of the radio stations that displays text in Phantom never displays text, nor does the radio show that text is available.

I have actually had both cars side by side on the same station and Cherri simply does not "see" the text of that station at all. All of the other 5 corresponding stations that Phantom has there is no problem.

Question: How come this one station does not have text on one of my cars? Is it the way it's transmitted or something?

Thanks!

Strange. My car has SYNC and when I'm listening to FM it shows the station text.

The 4th multi-function button is labeled text (lower right of the sync screen) and will toggle the text display on or off.

hmm... you have a 2011 and a 2012 Fiesta. the 2012 has an extra menu item. see if RDS is on or not?

this is from 2012 Fiesta Owners Guide
Quote:
• Audio: Scroll to select Audio and then move right or press OK to
enter the menu. Scroll to select from:
• SCV: Scroll to select Speed Compensated Volume (SCV) and press
OK to enter the menu. SCV automatically adjusts the system’s
volume to compensate for speed and wind noise. You can set the
system between off and +7.
• Sound: Scroll to select Sound and press OK to enter the menu.
Scroll to select from Treble, Bass, Middle, Fade and Balance
options. When the desired option is chosen, scroll to increase or
decrease the levels. sound settings can be set for each audio
source independently.
• Occupancy mode: Scroll to select Occupancy mode and move
right or press OK to enter. Then, scroll to select from Optimize All
or Optimize Driver. Occupancy mode optimizes sound quality for
the chosen seating position. Press OK to confirm your selection.
• DSP Equalizer: Scroll to select DSP Equalizer and move right or
press OK to enter the menu. Scroll to select from Rock, Pop,
Classic, Voice and Equalizer off. Press OK to confirm your
selection.
• RDS: Scroll to select RDS and then move right or press OK to
enter the menu. Scroll to select RDS off or RDS on. Press OK to
confirm your selection.
vs. the 2011 Fiesta Owners Guide

Yup - I know that. For the one station in question is it a dash and there is no text available on Cherri (the '12 w/Sync). On Phantom the text IS available and readily scrolls in the window that the non-Sync unit has.

That's my question ... why the difference on that one station? As stated, side-by-side comparisons of all the same stations on both cars, this station is the ONLY one that displays no text with Cherri.

I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta and I have the RDS function. You can get text from radio stations where available when you select the RDS option. I can confirm that the third printing of the 2011 owners manual has these options!!

See if you can go into the dealer or elsewhere to find a '12 with SYNC, and tune into that same station.
