Ford? The design is mandated by the newish anti-whiplash regulations that came out about 5-6 years ago. I think the design for the Fiesta is pretty acceptable compared to how some manufacturers designed theirs.

I somewhat agree. The front headrests seem to be set a little too much forward for my liking. Other vehicles don't seem to have quite the same forward angle as the Fiesta's do. They should keep my head from going back, not push it forward. If I set 'em all the way up, I can tolerate them, however.

However, my wife mainly drives this car, and she doesn't have any problem with them.

Well. I'll chime in here. As far as the front head rests go. I was the unfortunate recipient of a Dodge Avenger doing 90 in a blizzard. I was going 60. She smashed in the back end, it was messy, but the frame held strong. BUT! Those annoying forward headrest actually work! My head had very little room to travel and on the impact it felt like a hitting a pillow. I wasn't even remotely sore.

As far as the rear headrests go. In Europe, its one of those common knowledge car design things that you put your head rest up. This is why if you sit in the center seat, you'll get an uncomfortable poke in your upper back until you raise the headrest. This design is good enough over there and everyone either raises the restraint, or is very uncomfortable. US safety regulations mandate that everyone is a moron. And on that end, even I had a passenger complain about the head rest pressing uncomfortably in her back.

Now, is there a way to order the euro spec headrests? Is the spacing of the pole slots the same? I tried to swap out the center one to either a left or right spot to test out if I could just buy two more and the poles did not fit.

Is the option of converting two headrests from the larger pad to the smaller pads?

As for my rear headrests....
When note in use, I have repurposed my headrests into reminders that the hatch is still present and in full working order as i speed around in the corners!

I've seen now a half dozen Fiestas driving around town (yay!) ... all hatches (yay! I'm unique!) ... and only one still had the rear headrests in. Guess it's a common thing.
