Default Remembering my first car ..

My first car , a 1978 Fiesta Mk1

Couldn't wait to modify it .. Quikor swaybars, Suspension Technics springs, kYB shocks, cross drilled rotors, Mintex hard compound pads. Then later after the timing chain let go, it got the serious rebuild complete with Lotus Cortina crank and rods, high compression pistons, and dual 45 DCOE webber carbs. It was a real monster, and had enough torque steer to change lanes ! I miss the little guy, so that's why my latest car is a new 2011 Fiesta S sedan ! The weather has been way too messy to take any pics of the new car !

Love the old Mk 1. So hard to find any survivors from that era. Easy to work on, fun to drive.

My first car was a 1929 Pontiac. For a heater it routed air over the exhaust manifold, split rims and I think it had wood spoke wheels.

A while after I got rid of it, I was hitch hiking and got a ride in? Yep, that same car, I told the owner that I'd previously owned the vehicle. His response was:

I WISH YOU STILL DID!

Ah memories.

First car: 1960 Pontiac Ventura with a Hurst 3-speed floor conversion, 389 cu in 2 barrel carburetor engine. Black exterior with red interior. Darn thing got totaled when some numbskull T-boned me in downtown Little Rock, AR.

First new car: 1969 Ford Torino GT, Cleveland 351 4-barrel 3-speed. Cash sale using my reenlistment bonus. Paid for the car, a year of insurance, a tank of gas and a couple good nights partying down! Nice car - maroon exterior with gold stripe, red interior.
