Thumbs down Freakin' California...

I got a letter from the California Franchise Tax Board today, they claim since I used a California address on my federal return, I need to file a state tax return with California.

No, I don't. I'm in the Military and hold legal residence in Michigan.

The kicker is that this is in regards to the 2008 tax season.

Of course their phone lines are 'too busy to take your call' and to 'call back later'.

Freakin' California.

CA is trying to bleed money from anyone they can. I wonder if they go after illegals for money??? Oh no, that's why they need the money from you!

VA and NY used to do this when I was in the Navy...I would just ignore them.

I miss being a FL resident with no state tax.

Black out everything important besides your name and residence on your LES and fax it in, get a fax receipt and if they try anything you have proof you sent in proof.

I'm thinking of drafting a letter just to vent...

Sounds like something a broke ass state would do.

Default This is just the begining!

Governor moonbeam will stop at nothing. I do not think many people have a relly good notion of just how far off the reservation the voters in California have gone. They have literally voted to put themselves out of work! My employer is California based. I don't see how any business will be able to continue with the costs that are going to be imposed. It is insane.

As military, you only file in your declared state of residence. If you made any non-military pay in excess of the threshold, you will have to file in CA as well.
