Default License and registration?

Ok, I feel silly asking this, there has to be a logical answer.

When I bought the Fiesta, I traded in my Camaro. I had just paid the Camaro up through February 2012 for my license plate sticker. The dealer took that registration paper.

Now I don't have one. Am I going to get something from the state of Iowa registered to the Fiesta? Should the dealership have given me something?
I had someone argue with me that no, I wouldn't get it until I paid the car off, but I know THAT'S not right.

I'm just apprehensive about this because I am planning on taking the Fiesta on a road trip. I've never been pulled over in my life, but on the off chance I do, and the cop says, "License and registration" Wtf am I supposed to hand them?

A what?
They transferred my plates from the Camaro to the Fiesta.
Maybe I'm just dumb here and really don't need any piece of paper?
Sorry. Easily confused.

The state (county or whatever) will eventually send you something. Until then if you get pulled over you just show them your purchase papers as proof. The only thing you won't get until you pay off the car is the title. The dealer probably took the fees you paid on the Camaro and credited it toward the Fiesta. If it was more credit than the total fees for the Fiesta, you should have either gotten money knocked off the price of the vehicle or get a check back from the dealership.

That's the scoop from my experiences anyways.

Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. All of that happened, I've just been waiting for the papers from Iowa. It's only been a month, but I'm impatient.

It was nothing special. 1994 V6, dual Magnaflow exhaust, had the chip burnt. It was loud and obnoxious.
