Default I can drive with one foot again!

Back in December I pinched a nerve in my lower back (ongoing injury involving 3 herniated lumbar discs) bad enough that it permanently damaged the nerves controlling the muscles that allow me to pull my right foot upward, leaving me with permanent foot drop. Over the past few months, I learned to perfect driving with two feet (on an automatic!) Today I got my foot brace. This brace is to counteract the drop to bring my foot to a 'neutral' position via a hinge spring at the ankle. If I get this back pain fixed soon enough, I may be able to run again.

Woo hoo! I hope your recovery continues well.
Last year I fractured my heel. I have absolutely NO idea how I did this. I was thankful it was my left foot so it did not interfere with my driving at all. I was in a boot for six+ weeks. In the sweltering heat of summer time. So pleasant.

Well, I can only hope for relief of the back pain... the foot brace is permanent for the foreseeable future

At least it is a brace and not a complete boot with velcro straps and the like? While not comfortable, at least more comfortable than THAT.
I hope the back pain goes away. That must be miserable.

Very true. And yes, the back pain is quite miserable.

I feel your pain. Although yours seems worse than mine. God, I may need to go that contraption you have if I don't better soon. That pain, is it the dull constant to the bone type or sharp stabbing deep down? Or a mixture?

Default Run, dirtyblue, run! (;

For all our might and knowledge, the human spine (and by extension, Brain) are such a mystery to us. I hope that in the future we find a way to correct problems like this. I have an uncle with a similar foot/leg thing due to a back injury. :[ Wishing you all the best my friend; hoping the back pain dissipates quickly. Sending you healing thoughts!

I know I'm really getting off topic but if I had my way I would like to have implants that I could totally turn off my eye sight and hearing. Perhaps a micro-switch located at the temple.

Thumbs up

Call it the "Keller Implant."

Off-off-topic (inception!): in an Apple-to-Apples game the adjective was "senseless." My friend played a random card and won the round with it: "Helen Keller." So terribly non-PC and wonderfully humorous. (:

Just saw movie Inception. Interesting but it takes two viewing to really appreciate it!
