One of many reasons I'm not an outdoors person.

Cool

If you have a mosquito problem I recommend one of the OFF Clip On mosquito repellent because they actually work, I use one when I work on my car and here in Florida we have a horrible mosquito problem in certain places especially where I work on my cars.

When I go into a wildlife area in FL I take a spray can of Deep Woods Off, spray a paper towel, then rub all exposed flesh with the towel. I close my eyes and pat my eye lids and the area around my eyes with the towel. Since they will bite through a T-shirt, I bend down and spray over my back and let the spray settle back there. That pretty much keeps them off me. I don't like to spray myself much. You end up inhaling that crap and I don't think that's a good thing to do.

BTW, here's something that has to be seen to be believed. Resist the urge to scratch a bite and it will often clear up completely within 4-6 hours. You may have just a little red spot that doesn't itch. If you scratch the bite you will still have an itchy bump there for a day or more.

The urge to itch a mosquito bite is part of an allergic reaction to the bite. My dad's not allergic to them at all and so the bites don't bother him. He's like a passive blood bank for them. Why didn't I get those genes?

i'm highly allergic to mosquito bites. and they love me. awesome huh? i usually get eaten alive when i'm outside. nothing works to keep them off me. this year hasn't been bad at all though, one or two here and there and that's it. usually i'm covered in them.

I also noticed that the bug problem here in Western New York is very minimal.

Whenever we have a cookout at the house I live in, we make sure one of our friends in particular joins us. We call him a human citronella candle...poor dude, the bugs go for him and not us, haha.

I wear pants year-round so fortunately I don't really need to worry about much except keeping them off my arms.
