Arrow town meetings & voting

This poll is in response to Dirtyblueshirts post "Who will suffer most".

How many here have ever participated in local government or attended a town meeting? Or even voted.

I'm not interested as to why (we always have an excuse). Just the fact that you do or don't.

And PIE is not part of the equation! (Bondi, that's for you, )

BTW...I always allow viewing of the vote, so be aware. If you don't want to be seen and counted then don't stand up!

Been there, done that. It's like talking to the TV set. Not interested in what you think. They don't want to hear form you if you oppose them.

Bribing polititions is legal. It's called campagn contributuions. One party has one group of special intersts the other one another set. The "smart" money gives to both parties.

One estimate I heard one party would raise and spend one billion dollars!! on the presidental campagn. The other party most like try to do the same. It doesn't matter which party it is.

Please keep this civil. Avoid the D and R words. It isn't one is good and the other bad, but both are really bad.
jimini likes this.

Corvair,

You're standing up, but you forgot to vote and be counted.

i vote in elections, but don't bother with local town meetings. nothing comes of them. the decision has already been made, those town meetings are just an illusion to make people believe that they have something to say in the matter.

I am not involved in local politics. I didn't vote in the last national election year because I was not registered to do so. When I got my new license for turning 21 I registered. So, I will be voting in the future.

Please re-think your mode of operation. The first time you try something may not work but you don't give up. That's how the fringe and special interest groups get results. They know they won't succeed at first but they also know most people give up after the first failure.

Think when Obama first came on the scene. Who the hell was this guy and who cared. Most people thought he'd have a good a chance to win as a snowball in hell. His political machine knew this and acted upon this. And they got the results they wanted. It took time and effort.

BTW...My comments do not reflect my like or dislike for our President.

there are many many reasons that obama was able to get into the white house as an unknown. none of which had anything to do with fringe groups, and all of which had to do with special interest groups and race.

i'm all for grass roots movements. i also am well aware that they do nothing without money. and there's no money unless you either have the backing of one of the major political parties (ie: tea party) or can find a crazy millionaire that's willing to throw money at you. and as such, the vast majority of independent politicians or candidates will forever remain nothing more than fringe groups.

I respect your comments and opinion. But in my experience involvement at the local level gets results. Maybe not 100% of the time but I'll take what I can get.

maybe it's just that i have never seen involvement at the local level get results. ny is a very political town, and it's controlled by the major players, anyone else that tries to get in typically gets destroyed. so because of that i've never been witness to smaller, local groups having any sort of success. if it does work in other places, that's great to hear and i hope it becomes a more common trend.
