Alright,
So its heavily rumored that the next software release of iPhone iOS 5 will included integrated Voice assistance features where you "talk to your phone" and the phone can ask for confirmation. I just couldn't help but get a little excited about the possibilities and similarities of the Ford Sync System. Even if Sync just allowed you do use the voice button with your iPhone that alone has me very excited! So what do you guys think? I'm not holding my breath that Sync will do anything but these features seem to fit perfectly together it would be a waste if they didn't integrate it fully. Also with October 4th being the day the details of the Next iPhone(s) will come to light what are you guys looking forward to / anticipating about the next "iPhone 5"? CAN NOT WAIT FOR TUESDAY!!!

After having my Fiesta for two months, the only real disappointment with it would be the SYNC system. It sometimes just ignores me when I hit the voice button, it gets my commands way wrong half the time, it never seems to go to the right input when I start the car up, and is unintuitive to navigate. With that being said I would love it if they did something to tie in some of the voice recognition in iOS5, but keep in mind that the SYNC website still shows current iPhone OS as 2.x and still doesn't support text messaging. I'll be very interested to see what they have to offer on Tuesday, but if they plan on doing nothing more than an iPhone 4S, i'll be looking for an Android handset to replace my current iPhone 4.

android has had this feature for about two years. even blackberry has it, and they don't have anything lol. it doesn't work any differently with sync on android than on iphone. don't bother getting excited lol

Also psi chick iOS has has voice recognition for ages too this could possibly be something completely different (rumor mills mind you). What i found interesting in the nature of these rumors was the way that the phone will actually respond back to you in much a similar way that SYNC does. But i don't have much optimism that this tech (android and iOS included) will be implemented. I really wish either Apple or Google would just take over Sync and Microsoft can just go "OK guys... you take it" Because i keep coming back that i really believe in the potential of SYNC but its WAAAY under-utilized.

Windows Mobile 2003(back then called Pocket PC Phone Edition 2003!) had this feature. It was fun back then, but like Sync, a lot of times it's just much easier and faster to control through regular controls. The voice lady would read your text messages, anything on the screen if you wanted. Was a fun feature, but yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing much new out of Sync for it.
Especially with how little the iphone works with Sync as it is. Cords are so 2008.

nope from everything i've read it's the exact same feature that other os's have been running for years, everyone just thinks it's new because apple put it out. if i ask my phone to make a phone call and i have more than one number stored, it asks me which number i want to use. exactly what apple is saying the new iphone does. if i tell it to send a text message, it does so. i can search my phone by voice for contacts, pictures, or the web, exactly what apple is saying the new iphone does.
i think the one phone a year only model is starting to bite back at apple. the "features" that they are putting out now are basically just playing catch up to other phones (android, win7 mango, and even bb). i really think it's because other os's are so popular that there are new phones being released constantly with new features, so by the time the next iphone comes out what they were saying was "new" is already done on other phones. like the voice recognition and also everyone's making a big deal over the 1gb ram in the new iphone, but this has been standard in other phones for a while now. the issue also i think is that apple people are so focused on apple that they often don't realize that these "new" features aren't new because they have no idea what other phones are capable of doing.

Talking to control your phone entirely isn't what SYNC is really made for. It's got integration was specific apps, but not operating system controls.

But while apple has been lame about stuff in the past i still really have faith in the company. I know you don't like anything apple psi chick which your completely allowed to hold that. But you accuse me of being biased i have plenty of friends with android and i hold an open ear to what they are doing. I also own a Windows PC as well. Android does a lot right but Apple does alot right as well, you have to give them credit, even if they aren't "your style".
