Default My daughter's flooded victim house

Many of you know that I've been talking (complaining??? ) about my daughter's situation in Lebanon. Pa and the flood she had to endure. This weekend was my first opportunity to see it first hand. Although others in my family said it was a lot worse several weeks ago. Here are few picks of what she now has to deal with. One of the problems is that she just got power turned back on this weekend. As a result her house is perhaps the last one that needs clean up. It has become a bit of a "tourist" attraction as of late.

She's been having trouble trying to get dumpster to clean up the debris.

First floor in process of being gutted.

You can see the water mark on the house siding. In actuality the water level went half way up the windows height and higher with surges.

Oh well, things will get better and are starting to look up.

In '08 we had a flood here, houses less damaged than that were condemned and turned in for insurance/FEMA money.

From my view point, I agree and wish it were so. My daughter is very stubborn and I'm unable to tell point blank to move. But I think after this she is seriously thinking that a townhouise or condo is a better fit for her.

That's pretty awful Norm. You and yours have my sympathy. I know a little about floods. The city I grew up in, Parkersburg WV, has a wall around it. It's on the Ohio River which used to flood a lot. One day when I was a teenager some guy in Belpre, a little town across the river in Ohio, told me how he rescued my mom and me from a second story window. He was rowing a jon boat around lower Belpre during a flood when he spotted mom in the window of the house she was renting. He said I was a baby at the time so, according to this:

I would have been 3.5 months old on March '45. This is what things were like before the flood wall:

Here's all the info if anyone is interested:
