Default Diablo III

I just got into the beta yesterday!

Between work and the servers being offline I haven't seen much but its a pretty polished beta

Of coarse its a bit early to tell but I'm liking it so far

If you won't violate an NDA, keep us filled in. I dropped EA (Ultima Online) like a hot potato recently when changes to their account management system borked my accounts. Gave me some extra cash each month ... ya know?. I could use another game for when I'm not doing the model ship or irritating management at work.

Diablo 3 doesn't have an NDA for this beta. They went the smart route and everything is literally open to the public discussion with testers.

Diablo 3 uses a real world cash auction house side by side their in game currency auction house so if you try to make a little cash on the side its definitely possibly to do it legit now through diablo

Real world currency is not implemented for obvious reasons in the beta but some auction house testing features are going on with some of their latest patches.

Paypal and blizzard get a cut I believe off each dollar.. I don't recall all details but they definitely profit from all transactions.

Real World Auction House?

I'm sure it caused some delays but I blame games like World of Warcraft.. of which I was an addict for many years, being the reason why D3 was delayed...

Monthly subscribers is pretty massive incentive to delay D3 a few years...

If WoW has 5 million subscribers.. rounding down to get a real quick monthly rate of $12 per month... (of which some subscribers are paying more) we can get a quick estimate of $60 million dollars PER month.

These figures are flawed due to WoW having an estimated "10.3 million subscribers as of November 2011" quote from wikipedia... and most monthly plans are higher then $12.00 a month...

You get my picture... if they are making so many millions a month why implement another game that could deter those profits...

*Shrug*

I try to think that it's because blizzard is making Diablo 3 perfect.. at least its what I hope.. but we'll see when its done!

I play Forsaken World for my MMO needs. Never could get into the Diablo games.

Blizzard has a rep in many circles for wanting things "just right" - meaning more complete - than other game producers I could name. <looks pointedly toward EA> I'll take a delay for product over half-baked crud any day.

I loved Diablo II and played a lot of WOW. I don't believe that WOW is pulling any strength/focus away from D3's development right now. Perhaps it's part of why this addition took so long to get started, but their development of WOW is pretty stable now.

I intend to play Diablo III a lot, but my MMO of choice right now (and in the foreseeable future) is SWTOR!

I'm also excited for Torchlight 2, which is made by some folks who broke away from Blizzard a couple years ago. They made a free2play game called Mythos, then that died so they remade it into Torchlight. If they'd had multiplayer in Torchlight like they had in Mythos I'd still be playing it. (:
