This is correct, right? Even our salesman said come back between 8000-10,000 for the first oil change. Well the first one was at around 8500, or 9500 (Cant remember off the top of my head, would need to go grab my book!) but we have a few free changes. I get to the dealer, scheduled an oil change, and when the woman got in the car to see the mileage, she started freaking out (Not literally), but was extremely pissed and I kept trying to explain to her how I was told by the sales rep, and various other sources, 10,000 miles. She refused to believe me, and still didnt after I left. She was very rude in telling me that something better not happen to the car, because if they were to check when the first oil change was done, that they would see the excessive mileage or however she worded it. (Done going to that dealer BTW, at least for oil). I just couldnt believe after everything I was saying, she was still going on about there not ever being an oil that can handle 10,000 miles, and that I could have caused alot of premature wear and whatnot on the engine. (This was months ago, but I needed to vent this out, as it still bugs me now and then) Did anyone else get any junk (If you went to the dealer)?

First of all I'd go back there (months later) bitch her out in front of the Service Manager if possible. Take the recommended Ford Service interval page from the owners manual. Tell her she needs to get up to date on things then tell the Service Manager you will a) never be back for service and b) discourage anyone from using them for service.
Then file a belated Better Business complaint against the Service Department. As for my dealership, they're pretty decent and they know I can take my cars to any of at least 6 places that are closer to me than they are. Heck, there's a WalMart Supercenter down the road from them that has a really fine service department!

This is why I play it safe and have decided that I will change my oil every 5,000 miles. I do live in a harsh environment where the summers get extraordinarily hot here, so I think it makes sense for me.

I do feel stupid now for not saying anything, or thinking to grab the owners guide to show her, BUT in my defense, it was my first dealership experience besides when we bought the car (I'm only 19)
I am however gonna either call up there, OR write an email, I understand the confusion and maybe asking why so long, since most cars is 3-4000, but she definitely jumped the gun and got way to worked up.

On that note. I do have to agree with the lady and probably most of the people on here will disagree with me but oh well.
Any oil that is conventional or blend is NOT safe for extended use. I changed my blend oil the other day to full synthetic oil which IS safe for extended usage. With that being said, it's still getting 4000 mile oil changed even with full synthetic. I'm of the mind set that I'd rather spend a little in prevention than repairs later. If you follow the 10,000 mile oil change policy and the motor locks up from lack of lubrication at 60,000 miles or later. Fords not fixing the motor for you. That's out of your pocket. To me it's worth the oil changes being done at 4000-5000 miles to ensure long engine life. Now the lady was wrong because ford says its good for 10k so she shouldn't have said what she did.

I don't fault you for wanting to change oil every 4000 miles. But then why use full syn? Seems like a real waste of money, time, and resources. Even 20 years ago 4000 mile intervals with the then current "dino" oil was well within safe standards. I would not be surprised if your oil comes out clear at 4000 miles. If it makes you happy then by all means continue but you do realize you are wasting oil? Statistics and data proves you wrong to think that full syn can't be used as an extended oil at least to 6000 miles even with sever use.
