it's asking who's going to win between the two teams playing. the only options needed are team 1 and team 2. there are no other options....one of them will win.

2. I'm not interested in sports but I am interested in discussions, generally, even about topics I know nothing about (it's how I learn new things!) or know little about so I can better comprehend others' words on such subjects if it comes up again. I'm surprised this concept is so foreign to a member of academia.

if people came into a thread actually looking to learn something that would be one thing, but that's not what people do. they come into a sports thread going "I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SPORT! OR SPORTS IN GENERAL! OR THIS OTHER SPORT IS SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!" that's not adding anything to a discussion other than inflating a person's sense of self-importance and giving them a false sense of superiority over those that do enjoy a given sport.

so yeah....nice try getting all academic on me but that just doesn't work in the real world.

I don't follow sports but I didn't come here to bash anyone or feel superior. As mentioned, I came to learn and participate in the thread where I can (such as this discussion). Not to mention the Superbowl is a social event. It's like you're saying "if you don't like dancing then don't go to the prom." That'd be crazy! Plenty of other reasons to join in the fun other than the sports.

This totally happens in the real world and academia; I see it all the time. It's unfortunate you've not had similar experiences but that's life I guess.

I thought the game was very entertaining and competitive. The commercials were just OK.

I was pulling for NY but either way was no big deal.
