Default Minimizing/Covering scratch in plastic

When trying to put my son's *&$ snowboard into my car, the sharp edges scratched up the black hard plastic on the rear passenger door.

What, if anything, have people found that works to fill/darken a scratch to reduce its noticeability?

At this point we haven't treated the plastic with anything.

I would also like to use it on the lower door edges/cup holders where it gets scuffed.

Black shoe polish. Worked quite well.

I haven't tried it yet but I wonder if scuffcoat (aka scuff magic) might do the trick too? Need to find a piece of plastic from another car to test it on...

Tried the shoe polish trick on my other car. Boy did that not work, the area the shoe polish was on ended up shiny compared to the semi-flat finish elsewhere. The idea is a good one if someone made a dull polish but the results weren't good at all. Since the Fiesta's panels are even duller than my Solstice is I won't risk it.

Perhaps I used the wrong polish? Just went for the standard Kiwi black polish. Should I have used something different?

I applied it just to the scratches, not the surrounding area.

It was just black kiwi polish.

Maybe I'm just less discerning but my wife thought it really helped too.
