There was a thread here someplace where a guy painted the chrome grille black. The photo looks fine but in general it's not a good idea to paint chrome for durability purposes. Eventually the paint flakes off because there is really nothing for it to bite into.

Sorry, I don't have a source for a black one.

Finding an Ebony Black euro (hatchback) grill is going to be incredibly hard. you might consider buying another color or unpainted and having it painted at a dealer. The Ebony Black paint was only used for a few months due to the Tuxedo Black shortage caused by the Japanese Tsunami damage.

Since you've got the sedan 3-bar chrome, did you want to replace it with a 3-bar color matched or euro color matched?

Unless someone has a black S with 3-bar and wants to trade to get a chrome 3-bar, you might just have to buy a primed one and get it painted. I can't see anyone with a hatch wanting to trade the euro grill for a 3-bar chrome.

3-bar and euro grills from Ford Accessory site. These are the options. Primed 3-bar is part number BE8Z-8200-AA and is about $60 at Tousley. Primed euro is part number BE8Z-8200-CA and is the same price.

I'm not sure if the accessory kit comes with the backing plate and Ford logo mount...I went about it differently and ordered the euro grill as a collision replacement part and had the buy the logo mount and backing plate separately, about another $20 if I remember right. If you go with the 3-bar, you don't need extra parts. Either way, you'll need to get it painted.

I know, but you can put a hatchback grill on the sedan; I've seen it done. The hatchback grill is body colored. When you order one it's referred to as a "euro grill."

Very helpful, thank you.
