Smile Greetings from Maryland

Hi All. I've been lurking here for a while since my daughter bought her 2012 Fiesta SE, so I thought I might as well register so I can contribute my two cents' worth when I have something to say. I've only driven her car around the block so far, but I've owned lots of quirky vehicles down through the years, including a 1980 Fiesta which I purchased new and drove pretty much till it had to be retired for parts (at least it went to a guy who raced 'em).

So anyway, You may see me tossing in a few comments here and there. I'm not much of a BSer, but I like to help out if I can.

Oh, and if anyone is curious to know, I drive an 04 Dodge SRT-4.

Welcome aboard. Your comments will be appreciated I'm sure. Get your daughter to join also. We need more female voices on here.

Indeed, welcome! What generally locale are you guys in? We have a couple members out towards Hagerstown and myself and 1 or 2 others at the moment in the Baltimore area.

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm along the I-95 corridor in Harford County. I've mentioned this site to my daughter several times, but at the moment she's very busy and, in any case, isn't much of a car person, though she likes her Fiesta a whole lot. So I look at myself as kind of her personal service advisor -- you know, the one whose phone rings first whenever she has a car-related question.

Cool

Welcome! Your perspective and questions are definitely welcome even if you're more of a Fiesta Consultant than a Fiesta driver/owner at this point. (:

I'd really like to put in some real time behind the wheel (small, quirky cars are my favorites) but it seems like she's been practically living in it ever since she drove it off the lot. I did manage to at least help her wax it for the winter, but drive time for me has been nil lately.

if she has an automatic, please tell her to go easy for the first 1500 miles or so so that the electronics can establish shift points accurately and decently. I made the mistake on Phantom of not doing that and shift points for 1/2, 2/3, and 3/4 are too high by at least 300 RPM.

welcome to the Fiesta family ... to you (Mr. Service Advisor) and her!

She has a 5-speed hatch. I taught both my kids how to drive in cars with a manual transmission. That's all we had, so they had no choice.

Can't you reset the PCM (not sure what Ford calls it) so it can relearn the shift points?

I wouldn't mind manual except there are some nasty hills around here that I can't avoid and I'd rather not slide back into the grille of a Dodge Ram or something.

Resetting the TCM (you were close) is what I plan on asking for. Tomorrow Phantom gets his 20K oil change and check and I'll ask for an appointment for flash updates. Seeing as how it's a July 2010 build I think I'm warranted an update or 2 ... so does the sales staff.
