If you have the manual, you'll want to shift it down into the lowest, but safest gear possible. Redline the RPMs and then shift to the next gear with your foot to the floor.

Boy I hope not. My build date was Jan 30 and a tentative delivery date of Feb 28. I guess "tentative" is the key word

I think it matters more because going to Portland, Maine is pretty much flat, but going to Portland, Oregon one must go over some mountains. And I would think that would make a difference in the break in period and how he handles the clutch. If it was an automatic then I would not worry as much other than vary the speed, but with a manual clutch you're relying on yourself to properly and consistently shift at the right time and points. On a brand new car I would be extra careful.
