Is it possible that she wasn't wearing her seatbelt or that the door wasn't fully closed?

If she had something heavy on the passenger seat, it could trigger the seatbelt chime.

Door/trunk/hatch slightly ajar..

If the vehicle was Off and she had her lights on it will beep before you get a foot out the door.

 

Additionally,

If your not driving a Tri-Blaze Yellow I have heard reports that the car will make funny noises at you for purchasing the wrong color. This is more often the case.

 

The seatbelt beeping becomes more progressive the longer you keep it unplugged so I'd bet money that's what it was.

 

Seat belt or door ajar would trigger a light or message. He said there was none.

Like everyone else is suggesting, I bet she had her purse on the passenger seat and the weight was enough to trigger the seat belt chime. What this means is that your wife carries waaaaaay too much crap in her purse.

 

If you forget to release the handbrake, it will ding at you, and the light in the dash is not real obvious. The first time it happened to me I kept looking at the center display for a message and it drove me nuts that nothing was there. I finally pulled off the road to search for the cause and found the handbrake light lit, between the tach & speedo.

 

If you figure out what caused it let us know. I want mine to annoy the crap out of my wife so she won't even think about asking to drive it.

 

that's got to be one hell of a heavy purse to trigger the airbag light. just tonight on my passenger seat i had my purse (which i will admit weights a lot.....maybe 5lbs), my laptop, a textbook, three piles of tests, folders with papers and tests in it, my travel mug, and whatever other crap was in my work bag and it didn't trigger the seat belt light.

 

What is the state of the alerts set in the Menu system?

Well, I'm finally back in town, so now I'll get to drive it some. Drove it last night... no noise. I'm thinking either:
A) her cell phone was beeping and she couldn't distinguish between it and the car (has happened before with other vehicles)
B) seat belt dinging because she had a bunch of stuff in the passenger seat. Her purse weighs more than 5lbs... it's like a carry-on

She's actually pretty astute about warning lights, so I think if there were a message or "idiot light" on, she would have noticed right away.
