I drained the transmission fluid on my original 2012 Fiesta a couple of times using that plug. The plug has a spring loaded ball that is used to determine the position of the shift interlock. Therefore, it is not designed to be a drain plug, but it seems to work fine as a drain plug. You need to be careful not to shift gears with the plug out because something might get misaligned in the transmission with the plug out. The plug has a straight thread that is sealed with teflon pipe sealant. You'll need to clean it off and reapply fresh pipe sealant before reinstalling. The first time that I drained the transmission, I thought that the plug was the drain plug. Only after removing it did I realize is wasn't a drain plug. If you decide to suck out the transmission fluid through the fill hole. You will probably want to remove the air cleaner to give you more room to get the suction hose in.
