I'm going to the Detroit Auto show Jan 17 or 18 (or maybe both days) and I was wondering if any other Faction members were planning on going. I was thinking if we could get even 3 or 4 folks there at one time we might be able to get a Fiesta team member to give us a guided tour. I know some of you have expressed an interest in this on other forums but I figured I'd throw it open to the whole group.

I plan to be at the NAIAS on the 16th and probably 17th as well since it's one of those things I can never get enough of at once. A guided tour of Fiesta things sounds pretty cool, so if it would work on the 17th since we overlap that day I could probably do it so long as I could depart at a reasonable hour to drive home. Tour or no tour I'm up for trying to meet up with other Faction/Fiesta folks either day.

I don't have a great camera just a 7MP point & shoot but I got a 4 gb card for Christmas that should allow for full resolution shots of at least all the Fiesta stuff of interest. I'll get it to Flickr and post here asap. You guys have provided a wealth of information, so I'll do my best to help as I can.

I wish, sadly other staff snagged the show I wanted to go to most before I could request it... bah! Although I do have access to the embargoed Ford Focus press kit now ;)

Mark, without revealing too much, what's your take on the all new 2011 Focus? According to the 2010 NAIAS website Ford has scheduled a press conference at 8:45 a.m. EST on Monday, January 11th. The 2011 Focus should be revealed to the world at this time. I corresponded with a media member yesterday from Detroit and he has seen both the 5 door hatchback and sedan and thinks both look great!

I think people will be very happy with it. It's going to be a great car by world standards :D

I'm really looking forward to the Focus. That it has made it this far with no leaked shots is remarkable. I'd love to see it make me give the Fiesta a second thought--not that I want a way to avoid a Fiesta by any means, but if it's that good Ford should have a solid basis for the future.

Apparently only the two of us (at this point) plan to be there at approximately the same time. Any idea what could come of this tour possibility? We'll have to let Sam know of our planned attendance--he seems to be very keen to meet interested parties.

Here's a cool article from detnews.com. Here's a little snipet about the 2011 Focus (now it's 8 days away):

"Just two weeks away is the Detroit Auto Show (open to the public, beginning Jan. 16). There, you'll watch a vibrant, hard-swinging Ford Motor Co. introduce its all-new 2011 Focus."

"Be prepared to see a small car that will make you forget every Escort you've ever known."

Here's the article in its entirety.

Focusing on style only, I'm thinking they will keep design similarities between the Ka, Fiesta, and Focus. So wheel flairs and body lines could be very close. I would expect a more aggressive front end though. Mainly by expanding the lower grill upwards. Kind of Audi like.

There's a plethora of 'leaked' pics. Or rather: bad photoshops. I don't think it will look even remotely like that, at all.
(I write this while watching Top Gear, so a voice in my head, sounding like Jeremy Clarkson, says 'in the world')

I'm not buying that rendering pic above either.

My guess has been that with the age of the internet and photochop the mfrs are using them as a disinformation tool, as we can see it works really well. LOL

My speculation is that it will be rather similar in design to the Fiesta, I would say share the front design and still keep the original style rear end for the Focus.

I corresponded today with an auto critic at the Detroit Free Press and he stated that he's seen and checked out the all new Focus and that it is "dynamite". He states that, "I will love it."

There's a consensus so far that the 2011 Focus will be fantastic.
I'd be thrilled if it outsells the Civic and the appliance like Corolla.

Jim Farley, Ford VP of Global Marketing states that the 2011 Focus pre-launch marketing campaign begins as soon as it's unveiled to the world at the 2010 NAIAS on January 11th. I'm so incredibly excited about all of this!!!
