I realize the car isnt even out on this side of the world just yet, but do know anything about the 1.6 zetec from previous vehicles(this is probably a noob question). As far as strength of the engine? How will these engines take to a mild setting of Boost(from past 1.6 experiences on the other side of the pond)?

I looked around alot at the Euro Forums for the answers, and I have found a Company (puma Speed) that already has 150Bhp Kits for the 09 Euro Fiestas, complete with full exhaust, intake and a tune(it also mentions something about a mild cam). It is a bad habit(from a financial standpoint I suppose!) but I cant leave a car stock, and this will probably get quite a bit of money thrown at it as early as possible!

I'd be very interested in the Mountune kit which bumps power in the 1.6 up appreciably, but I've heard it also makes the car harsher-riding and noisier, killing two of the Fiesta's most appealing aspects for me.

At any rate I'd imagine alot of the Euro mods would be applicable over here, as the US-spec Fiesta's engine isn't changing much if at all from the 1.6 Ti-VCT.

We in the U.S. will be getting the 1.6 Ti-VCT engine. I've never heard of this engine referred to as "Zetec" or "Duratec". The 1.6 Ti-VCT engine is supposed to be an all new engine first used in the all new 2009 Fiesta that debuted in Europe last autumn. Not sure if Ford will use this engine in other models or not. "Zetec" I believe is a name they used on the previous 1.6 engine as well as a 2.0 engine.

There actually is another engine called the Duratec 1.6. It's an 8V, chain-driven unit that represents 3rd world engineering at its finest. It's also known as ROCAM. There was some discussion last year about it going into the American Fiesta. It may be that engine will be installed into Fiestas headed south of the border. If they put it in the US model, it would be a real turn-off.
