Change of plans. I got a job in Charlotte (Mooresville).
So now I can't order a vehicle here in Illinois.

But I don't want to wait until I move and get settled, that could be a couple of months.

Should I find a dealer in Charlotte and order the car by phone?
Or is that risky?

Anyone in that area have a recommendation?

Go for it. The only down side is if you have a bad phone plan! They may want a down payment, try to get that down to the $100 range. I assume you have no trade. Start with the internet, tell them what you want, get a price and than call. Should be several dealers in that area, so if one doesn't work out, check another.

Good luck,
Dan

Just a question, because I don't know myself --

Could you make the deal with your local dealer, and then if you end up moving before delivery, could you transfer delivery of the car to a dealer in the city you are moving to? Probably be some extra cost . . . .

If anything, you're working with a dealer in Il right? If that is the case let them know you'll be moving and they might be able to locate one for you right away in NC and if you can throw down a deposit go for it. Most cases dealers will work to help the customer, gives them good PR points.

Good points. I will contact the sales guy Monday and run this past him.
I'm still going to trade in my Explorer. The company will pay to move it for me so I don't have to put a thousand miles on it driving to NC.

But I was hoping to have a road trip with my new Fiesta. Oh, well. :)
