I just wanted to know when people are expecting to get their Fiesta's that were pre-ordered? Since I'm getting a moonroof (which has late availability), the dealer told me that it won't be built until late June/early July and then takes 3-5 after that to arrive at the dealership

I am expecting mine mid June, but it really could be anytime from early June to late summer. I will know more once I get a build date.

According to Megan at the reservation center no one who reserved should have a build date yet. (And yet some people obviously do. My theory is that they got in through a different program.)

According to Matthew Wolfe at the reservation center, once the reserved cars start flowing they should all get delivered in 3 weeks.

So here's the schedule as I see it:

Memorial Day -June 10: 600 Dealers get no more than 5 Fiestas each as part of a pilot program described to me by Megan Russo.
June 10 - July 1: Cars get shipped to those who reserved.
July 2: Fiestas start arriving at all dealers for normal stocking. This is from a dealer in Northern Virginia I will leave nameless.
Later: Fiestas with sunroof or any other late availability features get shipped.

The key factor is how soon the factory can get going defect-free. In past launches that has usually taken about a month. That's what I based my dates on.

I still don't understand why some dealers will get a total of up to 3000 Fiestas before we who reserved and ordered ours months ago get ours.

Sorry your question wasn't read on the show but at least one of the guys seemed pretty firm that dealer sales would be by "end" of June. Also no mention of reservation program at all.

I think we're in for a few more weeks of "wait & see".

I'm going to bide the time with 3 NEW 2011 FORD FIESTA BROCHURE BROCHURES : eBay Motors (item 390183226149 end time May-15-10 04:26:26 PDT) I bought on Ebay. There were two sets when I got there and now its down to one. Yeah, I might be able to get it free at the dealer later but at $5.75 including shipping its not a big deal.

July? That wasn't the news I wanted to hear. If I knew I was going to be waiting that long, I would have just ordered the sunroof. In hindsight, it would have been better not to reserve and have the dealer order one for stock that matched what you wanted. When it arrives in early June, just buy it. Sucks that people who did not researve a car will have one weeks before those of us who reserved and ordered a car.

I've actually sent out some feelers to dealers in my area (other than the one I ordered from) to see if they are getting a Fiesta before the one I ordered. Only two responded and neither were very specific (unlike some west coast dealers who have posted specs, and exact arrival dates).

I think that this pilot program with the 600 dealers is very slippery and there's no way the average customer can take advantage of it without inside connections.

My dealer said mine is the only car on order, and did not indicate getting one for stock. I would guess cars for stock will be automatic sedans, which is pretty far from what I would want anyway. For hoots, I checked out what a 2011 Mustang V6 would cost, and its a little out of the range my wife will let me spend right now. She wants a new Escape/Kuga or Edge, so my allowed car budget has been lowered. I guess I will just wait until someday when my car arrives. The good thing is that the delay will allow Ford Racing and FSWerks to have more parts ready. I have a good feeling mine will need some engine tuning sooner than later!

Too bad when I went into the dealership to officially place my pre-order, he seemed to imply that I'd be getting my car sometime in June. So I've already made arrangements to sell my current car next week. It wasn't until earlier this week that he informed me that the models with sunroofs won't begin to be built until the very end of June. He said that my car has a tentative build date the first week of July. Add the 3-5 weeks that it takes for delivery and that puts it somewhere in August. I'm not happy, but all of us who ordered sunroofs are in the same boat

I am sad I sold my SVT Focus when I did, I should have just kept it until later this summer. I just hope all this waiting pays off and the car will be as good as the European model. I wonder sometimes if too much attention was placed on MPG and infotainment. At least I know the handling is still awesome, so I have that to look forward to!

I guess we will just have to wait until our cars show up.
