The Ford Fiesta app podcast that the article mentions is available on iTunes. I just subscribed and there is just a beta episode on it for now (a commercial), with more promised to come.

Delivery experiance

Here's a new article about the "Delivery Experience" for new Fiesta owners.

Ford Fiesta 'Unwraps' Itself With Unique New Interactive Owner Delivery Experience -- DEARBORN, Mich., June 24 /PRNewswire/ --

Since it's with selected dealers I don't anticipate this with my smaller dealer.
Well all I can say Ford has failed in the predelivery experience. VIP treatment has been all marketing bs. Five months and four days since I reserved mine. Over three months since I ordered it. Why don't I have my car?

Dan

Any Ford employee who reads this please forward to the Fiesta marketing people.

The orders have priority rankings and are not "first come first serve." Marketing department has little to do with when exactly you receive your vehicle.

So the marketing of the VIP program really ment nothing, just sounded good. The "priority handling" was well, an untruth! So the reservation process was pointless! What was the point of all these programs?

BTW for any of you who are complaining about how long it's taking to get your Fiestas I ordered my Solstice GXP the beginning of June 2006 and it didn't come in until the end of April 2007 and that was only because another dealer with an unallocated order had traded it to my dealer for a different in-stock vehicle. In other words be patient, it will come eventually!

I think Ford started the "reservation" experience too soon. It should have run from April-June, not December-April. The same goes for the marketing campaign: "The Fiesta is here" ads running in late May. Really? Where is "here"?

The carrot has been dangling for too long, and it's too far away.

All first year models seem to be this way. In August of 2000 i ordered a 2001 Silverado pickup with the new Duramax diesel engine (first year for that combo). My truck did not arrive until April of 2001.

I also agree with the above statement about the reservation system. I the company IS going to offer registrations for pre-orders, they should be prepared to serve those first. So far I see no evidence that any promises are being broken. There are very few cars out there so far. I ordered June 1st. If I get mine before some of you who pre-ordered in February or March, I will fully understand if there is some grumbling.

You'll forgive me if I'm happy about getting mine though, won't you? ;)

You have to understand a few things, and this is for Fiesta, 2011 Mustang, and Raptor. All special orders have come in "after" the stock units in most cases. Reason for this is they take most of the special orders and pull them to the side so they can do extra in-depth inspection. This way you get a car with less problems than that first batch that went out.

Would you rather have a defect free vehicle?

Also remember this is a first year vehicle, they made those promises well before actual production started. Things happen and they need to be fixed before shipment.

If it matters, I expect my first 4 Fiesta before 07/02/10, 2 maybe by tomorrow.

My problem is not when I will get my wife's car, it is the expectation of something more than same old -same old. The idea was VIP service. So far there has been little of that and what there has been has only been when I called or emailed the res. team. If I had been told that I would just recieve the same old treatment I have gotten in the past when I ordered a car, then that is what I would have expected.

Concur. Don't make promised you can't keep. Credibility is hard to repair.

It looks like this involves a USB drive. What if your car does not have SYNC?

Notice how FiestaFaction is part of this program?

Finally, it looks like all the Fiesta deliveries so far (3 I'm aware of) were to pre-ordering customers.

Sam De La Garza posted on Twitter about an hour ago that there are 4 new Fiesta owners now. Hope mine gets here by the end of next week!

So there is a USB that enhances the delivery. I guess the cars with SYNC have a USB port that they could do some interesting things with. But otherwise I suppose you need to plug it into a computer.

Anyone have any insights on this?

edit - oops, didn't see your post Powershift.

I highly doubt my dealer will have anything like that going on, nor do I expect a USB to come with the car. Many of the salespeople at the dealership thought the Fiesta I was driving last year was an older Focus hatchback, so they clearly don't know what is going on. I am guessing many of those USB drives will end up in the sales desks.

Ford should make them part of the "car package" that includes the manual, or ship them to the customers directly.

I agree. My dealer called last night to say he has no clue where his Fiestas are and that they were supposed to be here by now.

I told him I heard unsubstantiated rumors (which I did) that there were some quality issues that caused the cars to be held up at the plant. His response was "Oh, really? Huh."

I don't blame the dealers. It's not like their lives are supposed to be dedicated to Fiesta. They have plenty of other models on their lots that need to be sold right now. But it would be nice if Ford as a corporation kept their own dealers informed. After all, where would Ford be without a point-of-sale?
