To help promote the Fiesta in the US, Ford is planning a two car assault on the Pikes Peak, with the intention of breaking the 10m 01.41sec record tme set by Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima in 2007. For this Ford have teamed up with Olsbergs MSE, who have built two Fiestas especially for the event. The two cars, based on the Mk.7 Fiesta rallycross car, will be driven by two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm and Rallycross and former Rally driver Andreas Eriksson. Gronholm will drive a five-door and Eriksson, a three-door. Both cars will be powered by turbocharged, 2.0l Duratec engines developing up to 800bhp.
