Great real-world Fiesta article.

The new R&T has a sound article on real-world fuel economy. THe goal was to test a full hybrid, highest-tech diesel, and cutting edge conventional gas on real driving routes.

Prius, Jetta TDi, and Fiesta (Euro version)

The Fiesta aquitted itself quite well with an over 40mpg average for the whole test (5 spd manual), plus they experienced a real positive reaction on the road.

Otherwise, no surprise......Prius, significantly more mileage, Jetta and Fiesta tremendously more fun........Fiesta most bang, and least fuel for the buck!

woot!

check it out.....

Hope they weren't using the digital readout on the dash on the Euro Fiesta for the accurate miles per gallon. The digital readout on the Euro Fiesta's are in imperial mpg's and not U.S. mpg's. The Fiesta Ride & Drive teams were telling all the test drivers that they were getting 45-48 mpg which was bogus because they were getting there info from the dash readout. Hopefully R & T did a manual calculation after filling up the fuel tank. If they had driven the U.S. Fiesta then the dash digital readout would be more plausable.
I would laugh my ass of if they really used imperial MPG's! :)

Oh well, at least it makes the Fiesta look positive!
I read the article and they say they calculated the mpg using the trip computer. But, they also say the numbers shown for the different loops, were taken off the onboard computer. I would certainly question their numbers.
