I'm changing the timing belt on my 2014 Fiesta S with the 1.6L. I have the cam and crank locked, and have loosened and removed the crank bolt. I can't get the harmonic balancer to budge, and there are no threaded holes on the balancer itself so a traditional balancer puller can't be used. I also don't want to use a gear puller, as pulling on the outside of the balancer will tear the rubber that holds the inner and outer rings together.
The Ford service manual shows a strap wrench which I'm assuming you'd use to get the balancer off, but doesn't make any mention of its name anywhere in the timing belt section, or even in the step where it appears.
Anyone had problems getting the balancer to move? How did you get it off?
