I'm a big fan of hatches--currently own a Protege5--so I rushed pricing and features into the database for TrueDelta's car price comparison tool. My analysis: the pricing looks good:

Note: Ford's preliminary information on the car could be much more complete--it made the task of entering features much more difficult and error-prone than it had to be.

If anyone knows which (if any) trim levels include the following, standard or in a package, please let me know:

--automatic climate control

--automatic headlights

--cargo cover (would be hatch only, if offered)

--manual height, driver seat

--spare tire (only SFE?)

--leather trim is first and second row, or only first?

--active head restraints

Thanks for researching this mkaresh. I to own a Protege5 that I bought in 2001 when they were first rolling into the dealerships. I paid pretty darn close to list because I wanted one of the first ones and it had to be yellow. My rough calculations are that the Fiesta SE hatch is running about $2 to $2.5K less than the list price of my P5.

Hate to say it, but I bought one of the last 2003 P5s, and paid $4,600 below MSRP. I've really enjoyed the car overall--aside from the rust, they do rust too easily--and haven't driven another hatch that is as fun. Wondering if the Fiesta will be.

Based on the specs, the Fiesta does have a much smaller rear seat. So my three kids might not fit. They fit surprisingly well in the P5.

The pricing seems fairly competitive, particularly considering the Fiesta is an altogther nicer car then many of those offerings.

BTW, mkaresh, you're a busy guy. Is there any car forum you haven't posted on?

Thanks. I didn't see a lever or knob to raise the seat in photos. Is it low to the floor?
