I wish I could get the car before I have to move. The chances are so slim that a dealer will get exactly what I want that if it happened, I'd be willing to drive a long way for it.

Hoping for a SES hatch 5sp 301a. And now that I'll be making money again I'm thinking of going for the moonroof.

Where do you live? If one shows up in that radius, one of us will know about it. We would certainly let you know. My dealer said mine is due a week form Tuesday, but I'm keeping it, but if I couldn't take it, I post it here. Like wise if I find one in stock, I'll let you know as whould everyone else.

It's funny that the whole idea behind early reservations was so Ford could get a feel for what the most popular options and combinations would be, but now that cars are hitting the lots, NONE of them resemble the cars we're all waiting for! Silver Hatch 5 speed with Sync and Sound and The Ambient lighting anyone? Anyone? Anyone? :p

A dealer 30 miles away from me got one in....automatic. The dealer down the road from me is expecting 3 any day now....all automatics. Here's one on ebay

Ford : SES htchbk: eBay Motors (item 250660489121 end time Jul-06-10 07:31:22 PDT)

and if their pricing is any indication on my bargaining leverage, maybe I should wait till the tables turn as I am not buying at MSRP.

I'm considering putting off buying it since I deploy in a month anyway. Maybe when I get back the pickings will be better and ther won't be too many other people showing interest on the few cars.

Could be each dealer thinks customers will want something different. The closest dealer to me (not the one I ordered my car though) has two S sedans with 5 speeds and no options coming in soon.
It's part of the joy of being a dealership: Try and have stock on hand that people WILL buy.

The Ford dealers probably had a heck of a time trying to sort out what to order. I can only think of a few factors why they'd be playing cautious:

- 2010 and 2011 Focus models would still be on the lot (selling for probably the same or even LESS than a Fiesta - so that person who really only cares about the price of a car won't pay "more" for a Fiesta)
- Struggling economy (can't gauge on what customers will actually take off the lot)
- General hype from the marketing folks and social media regarding "oo-ah" features and balancing that with the fact some people aren't willing to pay for all the "oo-ah"

I hope it's not like the Shelby GT500KR fiasco that happened in Canada...

My dealer is getting a blue ses with all the optima I want, but it's an automatic. Deal breaker. If it was manual I would have a new Fiesta "any day now."

My location is sterling, il. So a reasonable radius would be Chicago suburbs, Rockford, Quad Cities, even milwaukee.

The car I want just showed up in "pre" inventory.

2011 Ford Fiesta SES$19,755Sq/Lime_Squeeze, 4 door, FWD, Hatchback, MANUAL, 1.6L I4, Stock# 25172.
VIN: 3FADP4FJ2BM105827
Dealer: Middleton Ford (Middleton, WI ~ 88 mi. away)

I'm trying to figure out what combination of options adds up to that price. It does have leather seats which I wasn't going to buy, but if I can get the car in hand it's worth it. I would have added a moonroof if I ordered, but that's okay too.

Wow, that car has just about every bell and whistle you could ask for!

It's a SES + rapid spec 301A + engine block heater + leather seats + leather gear shifter + metallic front door sills + ... a manual! :D

(normally, eco boxes would have a manual to keep things cheap. This is definitely not a cheap car, but still with a manual. I think a well thought out choice by the dealer!)

Can you at least leave it there till next weekend so I can take it for a test drive when I go to my meeting in Madison?

Just broke down and called a dealership about 250 miles away (same franchise, though, so it's not really "cheating"). The inventory site shows they are getting a TON of Fiestas that have all the features I ordered. Now that I've tested the automatic, I've decided I quite like it, even though I've only driven sticks for the past 10 years.

The guy there said they only have one car on the lot, and Ford told them to keep one on the lot at all times, so that one can't be sold until they get more in. He also said Ford told them to expect their stock to arrive at the end of July. After I told him about my situation, he said he has a feeling my special order will get here a week or two before most dealers' stock cars arrive.

So I still can't do much to change my circumstances here.

I drove to 6 different dealers between yesterday and today. None of them have stock, all claim they had a few in and sold em within an hour, many over the phone. The San Fransico dealer said they sold 60, which I am not sure I believe since I doubt he got 60 in stock from Ford by this time. Maybe he means he pre-sold 60. Said they are selling em for MSRP and other dealers are selling higher then MSRP........

Don't know what to believe. I can go through the USAA buyers program and if those USAA dealers sell at the price USAA set (@$600 below invoice and then a $500 incentive), I'd bite. But I haven't heard much back from em....

No, but I could be persuaded to meet you in Rockford.
It's a pipe dream, though. If it just showed up on the inventory then it's probably 2 months away, but we'll see when they call me tomorrow.
Oh I would love to but I just found out a dealer 1 hr north of me has one. I think I'm calling in sick (with Fiesta fever) to work on Tue and gonna go and take it for a test drive. :D
