It is possible

I don't believe it. How is that possible?
If you figure 48 continental states, that is only 21 per state. And, the fact that everyone is not obsessed with them like we are, and not on the internet I could see how 1028 could be feasibly on the road....maybe.....I bet a bunch of them are here in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico..........That number doesn't suprise me.

Nice anecdote on Truth About Cars:

"I spoke with my local Ford dealer GM/principal when I dropped the wife’s car yesterday morning for a scheduled maintenance appointment (nice to see the boss opening the door at 7 am to retrieve the newspaper!). I went over and introduced myself to ask specifically about the Fiesta. He told me they were allocated a total of 4 Fiestas for the first month, for which he had to accept a larger allocation of Foci and Explorers, and that all four have been sold sight unseen.

The upshot of it is, according to him anyway, that they can’t get enough Tauruses, Escapes, F150s, Transit Connects, Fusion Hybrids and Fiestas to keep up with demand. I have to say that the evidence supported the story, as there wasn’t a single Taurus or Fusion Hybrid in the lot, and only a handful of Escapes (almost all XLT trim).

He also mentioned that I am not even close to the first person asking about the new euro Focus. Ford seems to have begun to create a bit of a buzz around the new and upcoming products.

My wife is a good example of the typical car buyer, she doesn’t care about numbers, stats or anything else I read about on TTAC; her three check boxes are reliability, looks and price. But the Fiesta actually has her panties in a knot, and it’s the first time in a quarter century that she is excited about a new car. The last car she got really excited about? Our 1979 Ford Fiesta."

Funny story.

I don't get why they are still producing the 2010/2011 Focus when it's obvious that all dealer lots are overstocked with them? Wouldn't it make common sense to stop production and start retooling the factory for the 2012 model, and let the overflow of last gen Foci sell out?

I actually work with local ford advertising, and 2 weeks ago, I was told there were only 60 Fiestas in the Central Region which consists of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas & Missouri. Figure a few more have been delivered since then and I'd be willing to bet there's more elsewhere...as in places where Fiestas were delivered by boat.

That number does seem a stretch. I've had mine two weeks now, and I commute 50 mi one way through the core of Phoenix during pretty busy periods. I as of yet, have not seen another one......granted 20 or so per state average numbers doesn't exactly equal a crowd but you'd think one would have crossed my path somewhere....

I can believe the numbers. I haven't seen another Fiesta on the road, but there are three people on the forum from the area that got their cars last month and another that was bought here and went out-of-state. I'm also assuming that for everyone on the forum, there has got to be three who aren't. Looking at it another way, 5,000 new vehicles are sold per month and 68,000 registered in the County I live in, it's going to take a while to see one on the road especially when it's 10-20 vehicles per month.

Well, compared to the price class competitors, Versas are big (EPA midsize interior room for the hatchback). They are also tuned for comfortable ride (in the way that Americans like, i.e. soft). And they are cheap (the cheapest new ones are $10,000). You do give up any hint of sportiness that you might otherwise expect from the Nissan brand or its European (Renault) links.

Yaris. YUCK. Have you seen their interiors? Awful.
Fit? Ugh. As someone else said around here, those things look like mini-mini-vans.

The Fit's clever interior packaging is presumably designed to appeal to those who actually do want the utility of a very small minivan.

The Yaris? While it has fuel economy and reliability, it does not seem to make any argument for choosing it over a Fiesta or Fit.
