Hi guys,

I wanted to pick your brains incase anyone else has had this issue.

Let me preface by saying that my warranty ended July 12, 2019 (5 years old) with just under 100,000km on the odometer (coincidentally also the ending point for the SRS warranty in Canada) and within a few weeks issues have been starting to crop up.

My interior door grab handle broke off (which can't be bought separately from the door panel @ $600cdn from Ford) so I plastic welded that, no big deal. The main issue now is the airbag warning light randomly coming on in the gauge cluster.

Here are my logs from the three times I have seen it so far. (I only posted modules on the HS bus because the only module on the MS bus in my car is the BCM (body control module) and all appears to be normal there.

The output of my ForScan logs:

The plugs and wiring under the seat look good, and the OCS sensor (passenger airbag warning light on the lower dash) seems to be functioning normally. [Light off when not occupied, light off when occupied by an adult, and light on for the airbag being disabled when a child or something lightweight is in the seat]. It also passes all onboard software diagnostic tests provided within ForScan. It is just the random airbag CEL showing up on the instrument panel that has us worried the airbags won't function if called upon in an accident, and the light seems to come and go randomly.

I've been clearing the codes each scan to make sure its a new reoccurring error of the dame dtc each time it sets.

Any advice or trouble shooting steps you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated as I have no intentions of paying Ford to diagnose and repair a car for something that other manufacturers would cover with the SRS system until 7 years, and now just seems to be happening coincidentally just outside of the warranty period.

Thanks!

Did you ever fix this problem? I have the same problem and finally went to the dealer today as I couldn't figure this out. They were able to narrow it down to a short in the seat pad weight sensor... time to take the seat out again and check for shorts in the wiring harness under the seat.
