Here it is straight from Ford:

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 6, 2009 – Ford's rollout of its next generation of small cars will hit an important milestone when the new Fiesta is revealed in December at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The reveal of the North American-based Ford Fiesta will also mark the culmination of the first phase of the Fiesta Movement.

Set to arrive in dealer showrooms next summer, the Fiesta already can claim more than 50,000 potential customers thanks to the Fiesta Movement.

"This is the perfect time to show the North American Fiesta," said Sam De La Garza, Ford Fiesta marketing manager. "The Fiesta Movement will have wrapped up, and after hearing so much about this car leading up to the reveal, everyone will finally get to see what we are so excited about."
So lets see here:
  • 27 months after first Verve concept
  • 23 months after US Verve concept
  • 22 months after Euro hatch
  • 12 months after Chinese sedan
  • And it may not go on sale for another 7 months after that

I love this car, but I'm getting a little tired of waiting.

Dear lord has it really been 2 years since the Verve concept? I guess so, that was 2008...

Tired of waiting here also...at least the Focus is pretty much "bam here it is" and it's on sale a few months later, no dragged-out debut like this

Well, retooling a factory takes a bit of time.

And meanwhile both letting people know what's coming so they postpone their small car purchase (Fit/Yaris/etc) and raising awareness of the car (Pikes Peak, X-Games, movement).

It is surely worth waiting for, and next spring will be here very quickly. I would have hoped for it to be released in Detroit so I could see it, but I knew that LA makes way more sense than Detroit.

I am not 100% sure of that since auto shows usually have press days a week prior to the actual show. Pictures from the release will/should show up days before the public show. Sometime in the first week of December is safe.

The LA show website says press days are Dec. 2 & 3, but I suppose it's possible Ford could do an unveiling anytime the week before that. I, too, was holding hope for a Detroit launch, but hopefully with LA moving earlier in December Ford will have at least a sedan and a hatch in Detroit as well. Of course, my schedule doesn't look great during that time, but I'll be doing everything in my power to make it happen if the Fiesta's there.

If it's LA, its a near certainty it will also be at Detroit (and every autoshow after). Although some smaller shows may only get one.

I do plan to be at Detroit next year. I think it will be an historic show for a number of reasons.

I messaged Sam and asked if the sedan and hatch Fiesta's will be at Detoit, but have not heard back yet. I know he is currently out of town.

There always is some form of a "leak" the problem is getting to see it fast enough before Ford finds out and has the photos removed. Which means everybody KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED. Especially now with the new photos unveiled.

I'll be covering the LA International Auto Show for Left Lane News and also be attending as an agent.

We also found out we can keep the cars until then- DECEMBER! Woohooooo!!!!

At any rate, I will be posting oodles of pictures and an official US vs Euro spec comparison on Left Lane News when the time comes. If you have reasonable questions, get them to me now so I can be sure to look for answers.

I can't wait to see the side by sides. This will be interesting and disappointing too.

For those that only wanted HALF the original product (good handling) you'll still put your money down!

I'm seeing definate minimal changes for my Fiesta, all thats left is the interior thats going to be a major maker or breaker there. We can only pray that for all intensive purposes the "Cell Phone" Theme stays. I would hate to see the situation like what we get with many NA spec models of ALL MAKES the Asian/Euro Market get incredible dash and radio set ups. NA gets the bland and boring basic climate controls a sleezy radio with CD player and a cup holder. A real REAL prime example is with the Kia Cerato/Spectra the Asian/Euro market have a better dash set up with a nicer full screen radio and better climate control system.

Just found this on Twitter: "New Ford FIESTA is awesome. Embargoed from saying much until 11/30/09. Big seller in Europe, low price, good mileage" From Car Guy Texas (CarGuyTX) on Twitter

Many people on Twitter are saying they got back from a secret Fiesta preview today, and it looks like only a week and a half until we see what they saw.

Alright folks, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! It's finished so we may see a leak here in the next couple of weeks. Somebody is going to let it slip.
LA Auto Show press days start in two weeks, and that's the latest Ford can debut it. Likely they'll either show pictures before that or it'll be leaked from the event PowerShift described.

EDIT: Oooh I didn't notice at first, the embargo breaks on the 30th?? We'll see it even earlier!
