Hello,

I just joined the site after searching on google for fiesta specific website. Thank you for having me. Here is my problem: my serpentine belt ripped after my ac compressor locked up. I replaced ac compressor and serpentine belt at ford dealer. It cost me $1350 for parts and labor. i rented a car for the week that cost me $800.after picking up car two weeks later it ripped again.

The car is over 173k miles, i've replaced alternator. The pulleys all have play, except crankshaft pulley. Ive read that its not suppose to have play, so im confused as to why belt tore. Anyone have any ideas?

Replacing the serpentine belt is a little tricky. There is no belt tensioner. When you install it, you attach a device to the crankshaft pulley that forces the belt onto the pulley as you turn the crankshaft. It usually takes a few tries to get it to seat properly. I have a feeling that the person who installed your belt accidentally damaged the new belt during installation. A couple of years ago, I purchased a new 2018 Fiesta. I had purchased a new serpentine belt for my original 2012 Fiesta just before I bought the 2018 Fiesta. That serpentine belt does not fit my new Fiesta. If you would like to have it, I can mail it to you for free. Just send me a private message with your address.

Hi Guys, I have just put the new serpentine belt on my 2011 fiesta SE. I struggled a lot. I thought that I had destroyed the belt on a few occasions in the process. I can easily see the possibility of splitting the belt during the installation. I tried to use an old mounting bracket from the Motorcraft kit, and it gave me a "ride." The bracket was bent and would pop out each time. I think maybe the 10th time was the charm... Anyway, next time, I will get specialty tools for that job: Lisle 59370 Stretch Belt Remover / Installer. I have a question about the pullies: My compressor pulley has some lateral movement to it; has anyone experienced that? Every other pully is tight, with no lateral movement. Another question is about the alternator pulley. I ran my finger on the alternator pulley, and it felt like some sharp edges (the ones penetrating the grooves on the belt). Very unusual. I had no issues with my previous belt—normal wear and tear. Let me know what you think guys. Thanks
