Tires lasted less than 25000 miles

So I bought my Fiesta brand-new in Feb 14.

Went in for an oil change today and my tires are all down to 4/32.
I'm at like 23500 miles.

Now it looks as if my tires are supposed to be rated for 60000 miles.

other than an oil change being a little over 5000 miles or six months, my car has been serviced regularly and tires are rotated every oil change.

I should also note, one of my tires, not sure which one has less than 18000 miles since I had a nail in my sidewall in one tire at about 8000 miles and replaced it with the same tire as all the others.

Is it going to be worth my time and effort to attempt to file a warranty claim?

I 2nd that!

Mileage wear seems about typical from the OEM tires for anyone who owns a Fiesta. Especially if it's driven on rough roads or backroads.
The Hankook tires are on the vehicle because that is the cheapest thing Ford could buy!

I'm not sure how tire manufacturers get the mileage claims they do. I never seem to get the mileage any of them claim. I drive alot and drive highway miles and I don't consider my driving style when commuting to be aggressive. Tires don't seem to last for me.

Best advice is to move on to a top rated quality brand and tire. Even if you succeed in making a warranty claim with Hankook you will be back in same boat stuck with another set of inferior Hankook tires.

Not sure where you live but I bought my vehicle in January of '14 and found quickly that the stock Hankook tires were worthless in snow.

You didn't say what size tire you have or wheel size you have. Otherwise I would offer up some recommended tires.

Tires are prorated when it comes to tread wear. so, since yours are well worn you wouldn't get much.
Not sure where you got the 60k mile rating, The Hankooks have the lowest tread wear rating of most tires.
Tread wear is cause by not maintaining proper pressures, how often did you check ? ,alinement and taking corners fast plus hard starts and stops are also a factor.

I hadn't actually measured, but I looked at it and it looks well worn.
I have a card thingy somewhere around here that has tread markers on it.
but usually with car stuff I talk to my husband and or dad about it before anything besides oil change/ replacing or reparing a tire due to a road hazard. Unless it's fully covered by warranty, then I just let the dealer do his thing :)

I got the 60K from Hankook's site.

granted that says for ones bought after Jan 1 2016, but I'm sure that it hasnt changed much and my tire warranty guide from my car says to check hankook's site. ugg.

Boy, talk about obfuscation.
Up to 60k miles. doesn't mean the tire will last that long.
OEM tire not covered ? The tire warranty guide included with the vehicle owners manual says different.
TREAD WEAR is not covered, only defect in material or workmanship and that is only for the first 25% of tread wear after that it is prorated.
So basically the warranty is worthless.

Good luck getting any manufacturer to accept a mileage warranty claim. Anything such as a vehicle defect voids that. Try proving that vehicle wasn't driven aggressively and abusing the tires. Try the prove that vehicle was never mis-aligned ever in any way.

Also if you read the fine print, any money refunded to you through a mileage warranty claim is only for the exact same model and size tire. So, one is stuck with the same crappy Hankook tires. You can't even choose another style of tire within the Hankook line.

Move on to another brand and manufacturer.

Ditto what everyone else said. I'm sure the OE Hankooks work well, year around, for some people.

However, there are many of us that are simply not satisfied with the OE tire. Unless you are on a tight budget, I wouldn't even pursue seeking warranty replacement. First of all, it doesn't appear the warranty is valid on OE equipment. Second, the warranty (to me) reads that the tires have to be worn down to 2/32", but if they are worn more than that - they won't be covered.

I don't know what General tire Iceracer is talking about - but I assume it's the Altimax RT43? I'm not going to argue with his suggestion, but I'd also take a look at the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06. Haven't used them myself as I use Bridgestone Blizzak WS60's on OE wheels + Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the 17" Ford Racing/Focus wheels.

I will agree with Iceracer that the dealer is the place to go *after* you do your homework (Tirerack). Before I bought my 17" wheels + M PSS's, I actually sent a screen shot from my checkout screen on Tirerack to the owner of my dealership (know him personally). Asked him if he could beat the price. He did, by about $200.

Do you know anybody that has a TDI Volkswagen? My father owns a '13 TDI Passat (urea tank/not eligible for buyback) and a '12 TDI Jetta (no urea tank/potentially eligible for buyback). Either way - part of this whole TDI fiasco was that VW sent all eligible TDI owners a $500 Visa gift card + $500 VW credit. He has spent his 2x$500 Visa gift cards but hasn't used his 2x$500 VW credit yet. If the VW credit can be used on tires and VW stocks Blizzaks, I'm going to offer my dad $400 cash for one of his $500 vouchers for new winter shoes.

I bought a set of Goodyear Assurance FuelMax LRR tires. If you shop around you can get a great deal. Sam's Club had an instant $80 off a set of Goodyear tires (making the set $367 out the door). There's a local tire place (Town Fair) that will match ANY tire deal, whether it's local or online (Even EBay). They had an internal rebate of $40 on a set of Goodyear tires, so they matched Sam's price and I ended up with a check about 3 weeks later for $40 bringing the total down to $327, on top they give a free alignment with tire purchase.

I'd price shop the dealer, but I'm certain you could get a better value elsewhere. Most of the dealership deals on tires I hear about require you to use a branded credit card to get the advertised price.

Long story short, the OE tire warranty is absolutely worthless and it's obvious that having your OE tires in need of replacement at that mileage isn't abnormal.

What size wheel do you have?

I believe the SE models had alloy wheels as an option in 15". My vehicle is the Titanium package. My vehicle has the 16" wheels and was fitted with 195/50/16 Hankook tires.

The 15" stock size is 185/60/15.

Because of far greater selection, I stepped up to a slightly wider and bigger 205/50/16. I opted for Pirelli P7 tires. According to Tirerack they are the top rated in their particular category.

They have excellent tread wear and good all around traction. They were rated to be the best in road noise. I drive a lot and this was particularly important to me.

Our 11' SE had the 185-60-15 tires on alloys. I saw on the tire data sheet that 195-60-15 was an option. Our speedometer always read a bit slow, so I installed the 195's and now the speedo is right on. I'm really loving the Goodyear FuelMax tires as well. Nice and quiet and handle the horrid roads with aplomb.
