I have an 2011 Ford fiesta 5 speed. When looking at the transmission from the front of the vehicle there is a sensor or plug that has somehow busted off and is hanging in front of the hole it busted out of. I can't figure out what it is. It has two wires going up into the wiring harness. Also yesterday I experianced a lound grinding noise when letting off the clutch no matter If it was in gear or neutral. I kept driving till I had a safe place to pull off and by the time I got there it had stopped. Today I discovered the broken sensor.

That my friend is the switch that activates your back up lights. Easy to check and to replace.

Thanks, Now I'm wondering if the internal components of the switch got inside the housing or if something flew in the open hole while driving after the switch broke off . I've driven it again and the grinding noises didn't come back. I was thinking it was the pressure plate or release bearing but I still have normal pedal travel and pressure. And it's shifting fine.
