Is there a problem with the PowerShift Fiestas? Mine was produced on 6/8. Others were produced before that. Has anyone who ordered the auto trans had confirmation that their Fiesta has shipped?

I was wondering the samething after reading the Motortrend comparo recently. They said they experienced some uncertain shifting and it just didn't perform right for some reason. I don't know but this kind of raises a red flag for me. Ford has got to get this car right from the get go. If they start having problems with this first batch of Fiesta's then they can throw all that goodwill that's been generated lately out the window. I'm sure Alan Mulally is going to be completely miffed if there are issues with this car.

If there is a problem with the shifting then it isn't a hardware problem it is just a programming change so it isn't like they need to tear the cars apart again. I am disappointed that my car won't be here on the ETA but I am not worried about this being a major problem.

As I said before, we did not to my knowledge have any issues with the powershift.

They were all given the Ok to ship as of Monday 6/7 IIRC.

That many Fiesta's take time to get the the ramp, load up, send off by train, etc.

We wanted to make sure ther were no problems with the transmissions, or any other part of the car. This is normal with a new vehicle.

From what I'm seeing there either WAS a problem with the PowerShift that has now been resolved or, as another source reports, they are just shipping the automatics a week later than the manuals for some reason.

It's worth noting that BRGT350's manual-equipped car was built much later than mine but has already shipped. Meanwhile, mine still sits. That gives credence to the one-week delay theory.

Which made me wonder why we weren't told the plan was to ship manuals first? Also, if the auto transmissions were OK'd to ship on 6/7 why haven't we been notifide that any have shipped yet? It may well be a software problem with the auto transmissions but why weren't we told? Just wondering at the lack of communication for many of us who reserved and ordered early...where is the VIP experience?
