With up-to-date tracking and info on the most trivial things that we buy these days, why doesn't anyone have specific info on something as major as a car?

I just got an email from a dealer in Naperville (Chicago suburbs) who says they'll "probably see something in about a month."

Seems weird.

Two local dealers expected theirs a week ago today, and haven't seen anything yet.

You're right! The dealer probably took photos of the trainer and posted them with info for one he has ordered that is very similar. Another "honest" dealer.

What you are seeing on cars.com are vehicles that have been ordered by dealers who have received and posted a legit VIN in advance of the car's delivery (in fact, I am waiting to see if my ordering dealer posts the VIN for my car that Matt gave me several weeks ago). The Fiesta discussed earlier in the post in a Michigan manufacturer-plated vehicle that may be similar to one ordered by the dealership.

my dealer's site has three fiesta's on there now but not mine... at least none match the VIN matthew gave me. But I'm pretty sure if I go under any of their ford dealerships (they have four within a 3 hr radius) it lists the same vehicles so I'm not TOO worried. (it says our complete ford inventory available at any of our dealerships so yeah...)

But the one for exterior color says GRN Orchid Met char blk clth W char insrt WTF? I pretty much understand all of it except the orchid part lol

The dealer I mentioned in my original post is showing a charcoal SE as "In Stock," then he tells me he has no idea when they'll have a Fiesta on the lot.

I think Green Orchid is an internal code for Lime Squeeze. It was in the order guide.

Now I'm nervous because it doesn't match the VIN Matthew found from my order number but I'm sure it's safe to assume it's one the dealer ordered for one of their other dealerships... they have one in baltimore and richmond etc.

There are certain things that happen. We get updates downloaded nighlty. What happens is the status will say shipped one day, then the next it will say pending. I think they took the initial shipment and took it aside to double check everything.

BTW, my machine also says Green Orchid.

Green Orchid Metallic, Charcoal Black cloth with charcoal accents.

Exactly. It was called Green Orchid Metallic, then changed to Lime Squeeze.

It is for dealer stock but I put down a deposit to hold it in my name. I got lucky that they had ordered exactly what I had wanted.

A lot of time the inventory is automatically uploaded with whatever is downloaded from the system. I have to run reports daily and upload them via FTP. They include vehicle that say they are here, but really not. They may still be a day or 2 behind.

I have so many dealers calling every day to tell me they don't have any news, I've had to stop answering my phone.
