Tank capacity is around 12 gal. I believe. You can find the exact amount in your owners manual.
The MTE is based on your previous tanks average mpg.

If you were down to 25 miles left, then 8 gal. won't fill it.

 

I cant remember exactly, but was thinking it was 11 or 12 gallons, so thinking that 8 gallons will get you to full when you have less than a gallon left (likely less than half a gallon) is just silly

 

Sorry I should have been more clear. I know the capacity is 12.4 gallons (i checked the manual) but I wanted to know was how many miles have you all gotten up to at the most? Like I said I have gotten 324 miles with a full tank of gas before so why the same now with less gas? Has anyone gotten more than that? For example anyone filled it to capacity? How many miles were on the display. I'm just curious.

 

I've gone over 500 miles with still a gallon or more of reserve on hand. Last two tanks have been at 45 mpg.

 

What do you mean by reserve?

 

By reserve, I'm referring to how much gas is still in the tank when I fill up. If it takes 11.1 gallons to fill, there is about 1.3 gallons in reserve.

 

On a full tank my MTE has said over 500 (cant recall the exact amount)

 

I think that yellow gas light comes on when there are 2 gallons left or so since I always end up putting in 9-point-something gallons with the yellow light, where I have gone to around 320 or so miles highway, but I drive fairly fast at around 77-88 in a 70. Around the city it is usually upper 290s or lower 300s.

I once drove 425 miles on a tank and the low fuel light hadn't come on.
Computer said I got 40 mpg.
so I burned 10.6 gal.

 

I get the light/warning chime when the digital readout indicates 50 miles to empty.

I've had my readout show "0 Miles to Empty", filled up the car, and the tank took 11.2 gallons. So, I'm interpreting that as the "reserve", then, the 0.8 gallon difference.

 

Yeah - 0.8 to 1.2 (depending on how close you want to get to the 12.4 gallon figure).
