Can anyone belp me out with this. I don't know if its a MFT issue or a phone issue.
I can use Bluetooth for calls and everything is good. If I use my cell phone and Google maps for navigation, the sound will not go through the car speakers even though I'm Bluetooth connected. Is there something I'm missing some setting?
I see in Bluetooth settings on my phone there is a connection for phone calls and one connection for media. If I try the media setup nothing happens. The standard default connection is phone. BTW. I have the Galaxy S3.

I have Ford Sync and My Ford Touch but not Navigation from factory. I was always told Google maps should always work and sound can be played through the speakers.

Can anyone help me out?

I'm gonna jump in here; have you tried the SYNC Directions? I've got MFT and used the SYNC directions a couple of times and it worked well for me. I went out of town for the holidays and the directions got me to where I needed to be in Indianapolis and Milwaukee. Give it a shot; you might not need Google Maps.

Great suggestion, OhioSteve!

cuemark8, you can check to see if a subscription to SYNC Services is active on your account by logging in at: SYNC Technology | SYNC Support | Ford.com and clicking PERSONALIZE SYNC SERVICES on the right side of the page. If you see that a subscription is active, you'll have access to these great features (including directions): Ford SYNC with MyFord Touch SYNC Services and Features | MyFord Touch | Ford.com Keep in mind that these are only available in the United States.

I understand how to use Bluetooth Audio and get Google Maps voice to play as well. Is it possible for me to get audio using Google Maps while listening to broadcast radio or a CD? Is that possible using Bluetooth or do I have to set my phone differently when plugged into the USB to be able to have the voice commands from Google Maps cut off broadcast radio when necessary?

Hey All, just joined due to troubleshooting why Google Maps wouldn't play through the car bluetooth. I see that this is rather old post but I recently switched from a windows phone to an android. The windows phone, using Here maps, worked seamlessly through the bluetooth with no additional actions. The windows phone, via Cortana, also read your texts and let you reply over bluetooth, something android needs to incorporate as a standard feature. I found the answer in here to the android issue and it worked, however, pressing the sync button and saying "bluetooth audio" also starts playing my music from the phone. Google Maps will speak over it though. Thanks for the problem solving. 2014 SE Gray Hatchback, 5 Speed.

Since a Windows Phone is a Microsoft product (as is Ford Sync), they work very well together. Unfortunately with an Android, you're not able to get turn-by-turn directions while you're driving unless you're in the BLUETOOTH AUDIO mode - and even then you're going to have to listen to it over your music, unless you use an audio player that stops or lowers the volume significantly while driving. Texts will also not work.

If you have an iPhone (which I know you don't), connect the USB to your iPhone and you should get turn-by-turn directions along with voice enabled text messages seamlessly.
