I use my key fob only as a transmitter and use door black buttons only to open and lock the doors. Never use buttons on the fob for any opening or closing of anything. Shouldn't this make my batteries last much longer than using the buttons to do all operations? My hatch is two years old with no new batteries ever installed. I use one fob one day and the other the next day to lengthen their life? Is this ok?.

 

Ditto that! I lock my house when I leave, put the keys in my pocket, and don't normally take them out until I return home. This, of course, assumes one has the IA key. If not, you will use up the battery much faster.
My past experience with remotes was a gradual decline in range before finally dying. The sudden stoppage, no change with new battery, and the wife's remote working seem to confirm the fob is dead.
If I remember correctly, the warranty is 3/36 B2B, so unless you've passed 36K miles, it should be covered. Couldn't hurt to try. Good Luck.

...I changed the battery and nothing. Absolutely no response of any sort. The other one works fine. I wonder if it might still be covered under warranty for a 2011 SE? I have some free time next week. I'll bring it in and talk to the service guy.

Battery replacement in your key fobs is covered under the bumper to bumper base warranty period for your vehicle. If battery replacement does not correct your key fob's function, make sure to take all remote entry transmitters to your authorized Ford dealership so they can troubleshoot the problem.

DeLacy Ford comes through again. Went to dealer this morning without an appointment. They squeezed me in and said they would take a look at it. Apparently nothing was wrong with the unit other than it lost its programing. Perhaps a strong magnetic encounter or something.

Anyway they reprogrammed it at no charge and I'm happy.

Owned a '41 Ford that had push button start. Sure wasn't as difficult to deal with as this "push button" deal. If the "push button." Didn't work used a pair of plyers and jumped by the solenoid and activated the starter and away we went.
