Windows phones are really not popular. I am a fan from the old Windows Mobile HTC Touch Pro/Touch Pro 2 ROM flashing mania days. Anyways "mango" is the mega update everyone has been waiting for and it was released to developers recently and the folks at XDA developers of course made it possible for for the rest of us to get microsoft to update us to the beta without being a developer.

When I get text messages in the car with mango it reads it out loud to me like normal but it asks me if I want to reply and then it turns my voice into a text and sends it. I was driving along today and was getting texts from people posting on my facebook wall and I was able to post right back while driving with the phone in my pocket.

This functionality was not possible with the current "NoDo" release of Windows Phone. Mango gets released to the masses in the fall sometime.

Now if some people would just buy a Windows Phone...

I'm a phone nerd myself, was using a Windows Phone back when HTC made their first device, called the Wallaby. Also had a Wizard, Fuze, and am now on an HD2. It was originally a Windows 6.5 phone, but I flashed Android on it, which I am enjoying greatly.

But maybe I'll switch back to Windows 7 if it gives me more car goodies to play with. I think they have some stable roms for the HD2 now, never gave them a shot though as Android is pretty great stuff. There Pandora and Stitcher apps for WM7 yet? I want full car functionality!

I use a Samsung Omnia II. This is a great Windows 6.5 phone
I would love to upgrade to Windows 7 but I have not found a phone I like yet or even with all the features I have now.
I think it would be great to flash the phone I have but my carrier does not have that option.
If I have to buy a new phone, I want to hold off for 4G for future use and there are no 4G Windows phones.

As for the Windows App Store, it is closed to PCs but still open via phone.

While I think what I *really* want is a more responsive WM6.5 device, it's really good to hear some things may work better in WM7.

Also curious: When playing back via bluetooth, either using MediaPlayer or the SenseUI player, my Touch Pro2 can be controlled by Synch and the media buttons on the wheel, as far as start/stop next/previous track. I've found this doesn't work on some other cars I've ridden in, so I assume it might not work on some phones. Any luck with that on WM7? Any Andoid owners have feedback on that?

WM7 wishlist:
Pandora, preferably sync-aware
USB disk access

Sorry was on vacation last week.

Jaclyn, the messages I reply back to facebook with via Sync do not thread properly on facebook. The message I speak back shows up as its own wall post rather than a reply to whoever first posted. I'm assuming you guys are taking bug/issue notes.

I'm really enjoying the beta of mango update in my phone; it does work pretty good using the car as a microphone and speaker. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft decides to really improve the interaction of WP7 with Sync since so far is minimal although it does work awesomely.

Mango can't come soon enough.
